Civil Services Examination

Eligibility Criteria For IPS Exam:

1) Nationality: It is very important to be an Indian, however, people of Nepal and Bhutan can also give this exam.

2) Age Limit: For the General category, the age should be 21-30. The age should be 21-33 for the OBC category. Age should be 21-35 for SC / ST category.

3) Education Qualification: If you are thinking of giving the IPS exam, your graduation should be completed before that, even if you are in the final year of graduation, you can give the exam.

4) No. of Attempts: General category people can make a maximum of four attempts. People in the OBC category can make a maximum of seven attempts. People of the SC / ST category can make unlimited efforts. Simply put, people in this category can give exams as many times as they want.

5) Required Length: For appearing exam, the length of the male candidate should be 165cm and the female candidate should be 150cm. For SC / ST category, the length of the male candidate should be 160cm and the length of the female candidate should be 145cm.

6) Required Chest: For giving the exam, the chest of the male candidate should be at least 84cm, and for a female candidate is 79cm.

7) Eye Sight: For weak eyes, there should be 6/12 or 6/9 distant vision. Distant vision should be 6/6 or 6/9 for healthy eyes. Near vision should be J2 for weak eyes and J1 for healthy eyes.

 

Exam pattern for the IPS exam

1) IPS Preliminary Examination:
This is the first stage to become an IPS, you get the information in the month of April / May but the exam takes place in the month of August and the result comes in the month of October. It consists of two papers of 200-200 marks. In both papers, objective-type questions (multiple-choice questions) are asked.

Paper I: 
This paper of 200 marks covers National and International Current Affairs, Indian History and Indian National Movement, Geography of India and the World, Indian Monarchy and Governance (Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy), Economic and Social Development ( Objective questions are asked from subjects such as Sustainable Development, Poverty, Population), Environmental Ecology, Bio-Diversity, Climate Change, and General Science. The time limit for adopting this paper is 2 hours.

Paper II:
This paper of 200 marks asks questions related to comprehension, interpersonal skills, logical reasoning and analytical ability, decision-making and problem-solving, general mental ability, basic generality, and data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables). The time limit for adopting this paper is 2 hours.

 

2) IPS Main Exam:
This is the second stage to become IPS when you complete the first stage, then you reach this stage. Its examination takes place in December but the results are expected in March. The main exam for civil services consists of a written examination and interview. There are a total of 9 papers in the written examination, of which two are for qualifying (A and B) and seven others for merit.
