Classification of Carbohydrates

  • Polysaccharide: Any carbohydrate that can be hydrolyzed into multiple monosaccharide molecules, such as starch, cellulose, hemicellulose, pectin, etc.
  • According to the composition of polysaccharides:
  • Homopolysaccharide: refers to a polysaccharide composed of only one monosaccharide, such as starch, cellulose, etc.;
  • Heteropolysaccharide: refers to a polysaccharide composed of two or more monosaccharides, such as lentinan, etc.;
